Major fire averted in Wokha and Dimapur

Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): Fire and Emergency Service on Tuesday averted a possible disaster by dousing off a fire, which broke out at Humtso road, Vankhosung area in Wokha town.

An update from the fire services stated that on receiving information of a fire incident, it mobilised a quick response team under commander ASI Hayang and officer in-charge Keleseho Stephen. It stated that hundreds acre of Jhum land and forest were destroyed in the fire.

It added that district administration, police, SDRF, home guards, civil defence and public also joined the fire personnel and brought the fire under control from spreading further.

In yet another related incident, Central Fire Station in Dimapur mobilised a quick response team under the commander of ASI Khamlu Phom and managed to contain a fire at Veterinary Colony, Dimapur, on April 7. It stated that a pucca house belonging to Sikonthung Yanthan was damaged by the fire. The timely response from fire personnel and colony residents brought the fire under control and prevented from spreading further.
