LYCC win first match of AMFA Cup

Imphal, Sep. 14 (EMN): Liwachaning Youth Cultural Club (LYCC) under Manipur’s Chandel district defeated Langching Youth Games Social Educational and Development Association under Chandel district 3-1 in the first match of the ongoing state-level 2nd AMFA Cup 2022 at the artificial turf ground at Lamlong bridge junction in Imphal on Wednesday.

SK Bunghong Lamkang scored first and third goals in the 14th and 46th minutes while his colleague Dilbung Rewnghong Lamkang scored in the 28th minute. The lone goal of Langching youths was scored by Thangminlun Khongsai in the 47th minute of the match.

Former state league team All Moirang Football Association (AMOFA) under Bishnupur district and J Songtun Youth Club (JSYC) under Kangpokpi district played out a 4-4 thriller in the day’s second match.

Samson (14th,16th & 51st) and Kumam Engo(35th) were scorers of AMOFA while Mangginhao Kipgen(26th,30th & 75th) and Akash Rai(38th) were the scorers of JSYC.

It may be mentioned that the 2nd AMFA Cup 2022 is sponsored by Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust, in memory of football promoter Mohd Sheikh Babumacha Mia alias Sheikh Babumacha.

MLA Noorul Hassan of Kshetrigao Kendra attended the formal opening function of the football tournament in presence of the president of All Manipur Football Association, M Ratankumar, and others.

On the first day match of the tournament which was played on Monday, Kuki Sporting Club defeated Kwasiphai Youths Volunteer Organisation 4-2. Altogether 16 football clubs are participating in the tournament.
