The Leshemi Women Society Pfutsero (LWSP) expressed shock over the attempted rape allegedly by Thd Founder Chung of Charoi Khullen, Churachandpur district, Manipur. According to a release issued by LWSP president Mesezu-u Thahu and secretary Kewechu-u Losou, Thd Founder Chung, an assistant teacher of Nazareth School, Pfutsero summoned the girl when all the students and teachers were busy with their classes and attempted to rape the girl inside the toilet on November 12.
Sensing the wrong attitude of Thd Founder Chung, one colleague responded quickly and saved the girl.
LWSP town strongly condemned the rape attempt and strongly appealed to all the Pfutsero town administrators and the school authority to apprehend the culprit at the earliest.
Stating that such inhumane should be condemned by every positive thinking citizen, LWSP demanded befitting punishment for the crime as per the law. LWSP further said, “No such act shall be tolerated”, and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the pained family members of the victim.
LWSP also demanded all citizens to develop and articulate a theology of womanhood whereby women are honored and respected and given due recognition as equal partners in all matters.
Meanwhile, Pfutsero Town Mothers Association (PTMA) has strongly condemned the attempted rape.
Terming the act as inhuman and intolerable, PTMA appealed to the law enforcing organization and the school authority to book the absconding criminal at the earliest. Further, PTMA has appealed to the concerned authority to award befitting punishment as per the condition of law to the offender and to spare no attempt to protect justice for the victim.
PTMA appealed to all like-minded to stand and fight against such crime which is totally unacceptable in our society. Further PTMA expressed and shared the pains with the victim and the family members.
