LRD and KSC sign MoU

An MoU inked between LRD and KSC on 21 April

Dimapur, April 22 (EMN): With an objective to undertake collaborative works, the Land Resources department (LRD) and Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 21 at the directorate of Land Resources.

A DIPR report stated that the MoU was signed by the LRD director, T Renben Lotha and the principal of Kohima Science College, Dr. Lily Sema.

The areas of collaboration according to the report included acquiring reagents and participate in undertaking water quality analysis of the springs through the Chemistry department of KSC; undertake hydro-geological studies/ surveys of all the identified springs/ springshed in all the 12 districts of the state through the Geology department of KSC; and bring out the 2nd edition of the spring inventory of the state. It mentioned that the department has already brought out the 1st edition of spring inventory of the state.

Report also stated that the partnership should be for a period of one year initially and would be further extended if necessary. It expressed confidence that the partnership would open up opportunities for the academia to work with the implementers in real-time situations that would substantially enhance their field experiences, add value to their research works and even increase future career prospects.

It added that KSC could fit in as an important channel between the research and student community as well as the department in bridging the gap between the laboratory and land.

Land Resources department has also expressed keen interest to collaborate with KSC and take advantage of the vast pool of scientific resources including the student community available at Kohima Science College at a mutually agreed-upon area of study that would immensely benefit both the organisations.
