Dimapur, Aug. 19 (EMN): Lotha Public Organisation (LPO) has appealed to the government of India (GoI) to expedite the process for an early settlement of the protracted Indo-Naga political issue. It also urged the GoI to venerate the Naga flag and constitution as desired by Naga people, stating that the two are the “heart and soul of the Naga people”.

LPO, in a statement, appealed to the prime minister to sincerely expedite the Naga political solution at the ‘earliest possible time and to play a proactive role at this crucial stage of discussion and negotiations between the GoI and NSCN.’

LPO added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was voted as the “World’s most powerful leader” in 2019 by readers of the British Herald magazine, had signed the framework agreement on August 3, 2015, which was also broadcasted through live telecast. It stated that the agreement did not just mark the end of a problem but accentuated the beginning of a new future.

It quoted Modi as saying, “We will not only try to heal wounds and resolve problems, but also be your partners as you restore your pride and prestige.

Today’s agreement is a shining example of what we can achieve when we deal with each other in spirit of equality and respect, trust and confidence; when we seek to understand concerning and try to address aspirations, when we leave the path of dispute and take the high road of dialogue”.

LPO has urged the government of India to respect the framework agreement in letter and in spirit. It further asserted that acceptance of the Naga flag and constitution would manifest the pride and identity to the Nagas.
