KIPHIRE — The annual sports meet of Loyola Higher Secondary School, Kiphire, began on Thursday on the theme "Victory through efforts".
Col. Rajiv Sharma, Commandant of the 30th Battalion Assam Rifles, attended the programme as the special guest along with his wife.
In his speech, Col. Sharma stated that the theme is not just a slogan but a way of life. He said that sports is not only about games but also about building character. In the armed forces, they do not believe in shortcuts but in effort, discipline, and sacrifice because there is no second chance on the battlefield, he added.

He reminded the students that what they do today will shape their future. He encouraged them to always give their best and to rise again even after failure. He said that the true spirit of life is to keep moving forward and never give up.
He also praised the Nagas for their courage, strong spirit, and resilience. He encouraged the students to work hard in their studies and life and make their people and the nation proud. He added that students are learning to fight tiredness, overcome fear, and stay focused even under pressure.
He advised students to stay physically fit, mentally strong, and disciplined and to always respect their teachers, parents, elders, and the nation.
The Principal, Philip Magh, delivered the opening remarks. Students from classes 5, 6, and 7 performed “Let the Beat Drop”. The oath was administered by Salew, Sports and Games Coordinator.
The event also included a march past by Scouts and Guides, followed by different contingents.
An exhibition tug-of-war match between alumni and parents against teachers, including the special guest, was also held.
Dignitaries present at the event included members of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference, the Kiphire Area Students’ Union, and Loyola Alumni.
