DIMAPUR, MAY 25: The 25th anniversary of Lotovi village’s weekly market was celebrated Wednesday with Commissioner Secretary for Works & Housing, Himato Zhimomi, as the chief guest of the event. Lotovi village is under Dimapur district.
Formed in the year 1991, the Thursday Bazar of the village is said to be one of the biggest community markets in the state. It deals mostly with meat and trades it with various other neighboring states.
In his short speech, Himato Zhimomi praised the villagers for their initiative in nurturing the bazaar into ‘one of the finest village bazaars that bring together the villagers in buying and selling all kinds of needs and necessities like clothes, vegetables, meats and various items without travelling to town and far off places.’
The official called upon the villagers to live an exemplary life and peacefully with other neighboring villages and traders who comes from other states for business.
Traditional folk presentation form the women of the community marked the celebrations.
