Wokha, March 23 (EMN): In an effort to bring about peace and tranquility among the Lotha community pertaining to the prevailing situation among the members of Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA), the Lotha Hoho has decided to set up an interim body for a period of six months headed by Rev. Zanao Mozhui as president and Dr. K Benry Lotha as executive secretary on March 28.

With a hope to settle the issue amicably, the Lotha Hoho had convened a consultative meeting on February 28 with LBCA representatives namely the Lotha Baptist Pastors Sanrhyu and Lotha Baptist Theological Association but was prevented from attending the meeting. A second meeting was convened on March 18 in which was put down by the LBCA.

Finding no option for amicable settlement, the Lotha Hoho decided to dissolve the existing LBCA administration with effect from March 18, whereby it directed the incumbent office bearers to submit their resignation in written to the Pro tem convener/ president within seven days or latest by March 25 and hand over charge to the pro tem office bearers.

Meanwhile, the Lotha Public Organisation (LPO) has termed the banning of LBCA by Lotha Hoho as illegal stating that they are totally two different bodies with their own set of constitution and functions.

In a press release, LPO chairman, Sulanthung Humtsoe, and the vice president, Phyobemo Odyuo, stated that no civil organisations or NGO have an obligation to act as the judge or executioner but could at best act as the mediator to bring peace and harmony. LPO stated that no individual or vested person should take the Lotha people for a joyride and take ransom by issuing dictates.

LPO has appealed to the law enforcing agency to take necessary action against the Lotha Hoho office bearers for sowing hatred and division among the community instead of acting as a bridge among the warring groups.

LPO further appealed to the church bodies to exhibit utmost restraint and solve the imbroglio with accommodating spirit and renew the true Christian fraternity to avoid further intensification.
