DIMAPUR — The Wokha District Football Association held the 13th Lotha Football Championship 2024 at Wokha public ground on Tuesday with chief medical officer of Wokha Dr. Zuben Kikon as the special guest for the opening ceremony.
As per an update, the chief guest addressed the ceremony, commending the players for their enthusiasm. He encouraged them to view sports not just as a seasonal interest but also a potential profession.
Emphasising the importance of qualities such as honesty, integrity, and strong moral principles, the chief guest highlighted that engagement in sports cultivates good manners and politeness. Respect for opponents, he stated, is a key trait of a good sportsman, as is fostering positive examples for spectators. Additionally, he underscored the need for young athletes to balance their strength and energy with maturity, cautioning against short-tempered behaviour.
He concluded by encouraging participants to showcase their talents, popularise themselves, and make the match memorable so that they can become well-known in their respective fields.
The first match between Friends Club and Young Brothers XI started with the chief guest kicking off the match.
