EMN imapur, August 24 The Lotha Baptist churches apex has expressed condemnation of the “action” of NSCN (K) cadres that was allegedly committed in the church of Chukitong town on August 21. The Kyong Baptist Churches Association (KBES) issued a press release on Monday denouncing the underground cadres for defiling the sanctity of the church. The KBES, however, did not explain what the breach or “action” was. On the other hand, the church organization has expressed profound gratitude to the troopers of the Assam Rifles for exercising restraint and not putting the citizens to any untoward situation or harassing them in any way. The church has expressed confidence that the AR would continue to show their conduct in similar ways toward the people in the future as well. “I am extremely shocked to know that the incident that took place at Chukitong town involving the action of the NSCN (K) on the morning of August 21, 2015 was carried out from inside the compound of Chukitong Town Baptist Church which is affiliated to this association,” Rev. MC Kithan, executive secretary of the KBES, stated in the press release. “To my knowledge, this action of the NSCN (K) is the most inhuman act committed so far by any Naga group which needs strong condemnation by the people and Christians across the state,” the church organization stated. While condemning the “action” of the NSCN (K) in the strongest term, the KBES has appeals to all to maintain sanctity of places of worships in the days to come. “The KBES also strongly condemn the forces that are trying to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of the area when the Nagas are eagerly yearning and praying for a lasting peace in the state,” the KBES stated. “Meanwhile the KBES express our profound gratitude to the ‘Friends of the Hill People’ for exercising maximum restraint by not meting out any harassment to the innocent public due to the condemnable action of the NSCN (K) and hoped that the love and concern for the Naga people they have will continue even in the days to come,” the organization stated in gratitude to the security force.
