Lotha Academy holds seminar on language development

Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): In tune with the UN’s declaration of 2019 as the “Year of Indigenous Language,’ the Lotha Academy in collaboration with Mt. Tiyi College, Wokha, organised a one-day seminar on Lotha language development on May 24.
Fr. Abraham Lotha, president of Lotha Academy, highlighted on the importance and significance of indigenous language of the world and the crucial role it plays in bridging the social and religious divide during the seminar, informed a press release from Lotha Academy Literature Committee member Aremo Ngullie.

He stressed on the importance and the need to preserve indigenous language as thousand are on the verge of extinction. He informed that the UN had declared 2019 as the “Year of Indigenous Language” owing to the huge potential it has on creating world peace.

Resource persons Chophatung Humtsoe, Yimlothung Ezung and Nyanchumi Ezung of Longsa village enlightened the gathering through poem recitations in the form of dramatic monologues and sonnets during the Lotha poetry and recitation session.

Besides the students, people from various walks of life, including more than 40 Lotha teachers attended the seminar. There was healthy debate and interaction between the participants and resource persons during the programme.
