Longsa’s eagles give to life with blood donation

The Longsa Eagles Club was formed in the year 1967 with its headquarters in Longsa village of Mokokchung district. It consists of more than 700 hundred families spread across various towns in the state. The club is going to celebrate its 50 anniversary this year. In commemoration of the jubilee, the club has listed year-long jubilee activities. Today’s blood donation was one of the activities initiated the club, said the Club’s Jubilee Convener Bendangwati during the formal programme at the IMDH. The Ao Senden’s President, Imliyanger Jamir who is also a member of the Longsa Eagles Club, was the first person to donate blood today. The club’s members residing in other towns and cities also donated blood in their respective area to mark the event. The medical superintendent of IMDH, Dr Medem, while speaking at a short programme, appreciated the club for their gesture and urged them to register their names in the blood donors’ list so that they can continue to donate blood especially during times of emergencies. The IMDH Blood Bank in-charge, Dr Chubala, also highlighted the significance of the day and the importance of blood donation. Representatives from the NSACS, NACO and the Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donors Association were also present at the programme.
