The Longsa Village Council in Wokha destroys seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth INR 10,000 on Saturday.

WOKHA — The Longsa Village Council in Wokha district destroyed a consignment of seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at around INR 10,000 on Saturday. The destroyed liquor comprised 25 full-sized bottles and one quarter-sized bottle.
Longsa Village Council GB Robin Kikon stated that the liquor was confiscated during a surprise checking conducted on July 2 as part of the council's regular enforcement drives to curb the entry and circulation of alcohol and other intoxicants within the village. During the operation, a van driver transporting the liquor was intercepted.
The driver claimed the consignment did not belong to him but that he was transporting it on behalf of two other individuals. The council subsequently identified and apprehended the offenders, whose names were withheld.
Kikon stated that one offender, being a first-time violator, was fined INR 5,000, while the second offender, who had previously committed a similar offence, was fined INR 10,000. He added that under the village's regulations, anyone caught violating the prohibition policy for a third time would be expelled from the village.

The council also issued a stern warning against the sale, possession, and transportation of alcohol and other intoxicants within its jurisdiction, cautioning that violators would face strict action in accordance with established regulations.
Kikon further said the village council would continue conducting surprise inspections and appealed to residents to cooperate in maintaining a healthy, peaceful, and intoxication-free community.
