Dimapur, August 13 (EMN): The District Planning & Development Board of Longleng met on August 7 at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall in Longleng. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Y Denngan Avennoho Phom.
Updates from the DIPR informed that the chairman emphasized on the duties and responsibility of officers. Deputy Commissioner Phom said that every officer was appointed ‘for the purpose of responsibility’ for which ‘it is the duty of the officer concern to discharge their assigned duties with responsibility for the welfare of the people by being in their respective place of posting.’
Also, the official was stated to have lamented that the deputy commissioner ‘cannot remind them to be in their place of posting and discharge their duties which is known by the officer concern.’
Further, Denngan informed the members that problems of land encroachment have been reported to the district administration. He appealed to the officers to report such cases to the administration to report the matter to the higher authority for action.
The deputy commissioner thanked the heads of departments for their contribution to the renovation of the Changtongya Longleng road. He informed the board regarding improvement of the road after the renovation.
Further, officials of Tamlu highlighted the poor infrastructure and absences of math teachers t the government high school of Tamlu. They informed that the ‘problem was disclosed’ during a visit to the school. They have asked the department in concern to redress the issue for the welfare of the students.
Another official was also stated to have said that the government high school of Tamlu was functioning without a mathematics teacher since 2013.
“He suggested forwarding the grievances of the school to the authority concern through the DPDB for immediate action. In this regard the house agreed to forward the case after a lengthy discussion with the DEO,” the DIPR update stated.
In other matters, the board has approved a proposal to upgrade of St. Thomas School at Tamlu from class-VIII to class-X “after highlighting the status of the school by the principal,” the DIPR stated.
The additional deputy commissioner of Tamlu and the DEO of Longleng also supplemented the principal and said that the school had fulfilled the criteria required for an upgrade.
Also, during a review of the board’s previous meeting, the extra assistant commissioner of Yongnyah and extra assistant commissioner of Longleng reported their action taken for the upgrade of the extra assistant commissioner headquarters at Yongnyah to subdivision officer (civil), and the establishment of a new extra assistant commissioner headquarter at Namching.
“Both the EAC’s inform the house that they have submitted the status report as required by the government for approval and necessary action. The EAC Longleang also reported on the renovation of Changtongnya road and urged the defaulting departments who are yet to submit their contribution for the renovation of the road to submit at the earliest to the administration,” the DIPR report stated.
The board has resolved to organize a mass ‘social work’ in the entire district including the sub-divisions as part of preparations for the Independence Day celebrations. Later, work for the event was allotted.
