Longleng villagers avail free med help

Nyang villagers have been treated to a daylong, free health camp by medical authorities of Longleng district on February 4 during which the local population could avail free examination and basic medication.
The event was organized by the District Health Society of Longleng district in Nyang village on February 4 in the government middle school of the village.

A team of medical professional who tended to the event comprised chief medical officer of Longleng Dr. Bendang Jamir, DPOs Dr. Imtiwabang Aier,  Dr.Lanuchuba, Epideomiologist Dr. Molungtsungba Jamir, medical officer of Yongnyah’s Public Health Center Dr. Manan Phom, medical officer of Yachem Public Health Dr. Lingshau James Phom, Dr.Suimzenla, and Dr.Zhakali Ayush besides nurses and lab technicians.

Approximately 341 patients availed free health services. Basic medicines such as cough syrups, antibiotics, basic ointments, condoms, contraceptive pills and emergency injections were provided for free to visitors of the camp. Other services such as copper-T insertion 11, ANC 9 and 8-sputum were also collected while a number of 34 samples were examined.

Also, the district community ‘mobilizers’, district media officers, block programme managers and the Asha coordinators engaged in an interactive session with pregnant mothers during the event. Counseling on the topics of maternal health, family planning, child health and immunization and nutritional packages were also given to pregnant mothers.IEC materials such as posters and leaflets set in English and local dialects were distributed to the villagers.
