DIMAPUR— Superintendent of Police Longleng, Pritpal Kaur Batra, was conferred with Inspirational Woman in Social Impact Award at the 4th International Inspirational Women Awards 2023 (IIWA) ceremony held in New Delhi on June 17.

IIWA award was initiated by GISR Foundation to recognise and acknowledge invincible potential of women change makers and celebrate the commitment, courage and confidence of exceptional women across dimensions and geographical boundaries, according to the foundation.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror after receiving the award, Batra said it was very encouraging for officers “who work even at last corners of India with motivations”.

When asked about positive changes she wants to bring, she replied that basic policing has to be strengthened, adding that they have already started many works in Tuensang, Noklak, and now in Longleng.

The works it has initiated include free coaching classes UPSC/NPSC exams, livelihood training to drug addicts and counseling, career guidance to youth, training in farming, biodiversity and environment protection, war against drugs, continuous raids on drug sales etc.

It was also informed that the police has been giving guidance against tobacco, HIV, intoxications, and other social evils; helps children homes, formation of self help groups and providing value addition training, education at all level, and promotion of sports and provision of sports equipment.

The police officer said that she faces lots of challenges in executing her duties but it ‘turns to opportunity when it is dealt with compassion and empathy’.

“No matter how dark the night is, sun always shines; hence we all should give our best and do hard work. In the end, it is only the truth and hard work which will win despite all odds and challenges, since lord loves the true and honest deeds,” she said.

The GISR Foundation congratulated the police officer for receiving the award. “We applaud your exemplary contributions to your field and your unwavering commitment to excellence. Your remarkable achievements have earned you this coveted recognition, and we are truly proud of you,” it wrote.

Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton, also took to Twitter to congratulate the police officer.

“Congratulations to Dr Pritpal Kaur Batra, (IPS) SP Longleng, on being conferred with the Inspirational Woman in Social Impact Award during the 4th International Inspirational Women Awards 2023 by GISR Foundation. Wishing her continued success in all her endeavours!” he wrote.

It may be mentioned that GISR Foundation is a non-governmental and nonprofit organisation registered with the Central government’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and plays a proactive role in India’s development process by providing education to underprivileged girl children.
