Dimapur, April 15 (EMN): Following extension of the nationwide lockdown till May 3, an emergency meeting of the Longleng district task force on Covid-19 was held on April 14 under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner, Longleng, M Shayung Phom. The meeting was called to enforce and review various measures on lockdown and to ensure safety of the citizens.

Highlighting on the primary objective of the meeting, the DC urged the members to be well prepared to combat Covid-19 and ensure safety of the citizens by maintaining various measures. He urged the members to be prepared and ready to respond in time without blaming each other.

The DC also sought valuable suggestions and measures to ensure making Longleng free from Covid-19. While thanking the civil societies for their cooperation and contribution to the district administration and police, the DC appealed to the NGOs to educate the public in adhering to the lockdown and to refrain from using social media to attack the administration, police and government agencies who are relentlessly working for the safety of the people.

Health officials have reported on the preparation, functioning, facilities available at the makeshift District Hospital and District Covid-19 Hospital. They informed that maximum criteria have been maintained as per the facilities provided by the government despite shortage of manpower and experts.

They informed that anaesthesiologist has not been posted in the district to operate and use the ventilator. However, they informed that the matter was reported to the higher authority and expecting positive response.

SP Longleng Yanithung Ezung, ADC Longleng D Robin, additional SP Atopu Sumi, public leader YB Angam, PPC vice president Longdang Temjen, assistant commandant of VGs Nokchem and others shared their views and suggestions.

Meanwhile, the members have decided to extend the timing for opening of grocery shops from 8 am to 12 noon. The members also discussed on use of token system with serial number to maintain social distancing in the bank and ATM, repairing of ATM booth at NST, complete sealing of interstate border and to check and control of illegal supply of drugs in the district, and measures for safe passage of essential commodities in the district etc.
