Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): Peren district planning and development board (DPDB) meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier at DC’s Conference Hall, Peren on April 6.

A DIPR update on Tuesday informed that upgradation of Govt. High School at Ahthibung had been approved by the board members and recommend to the higher ups for further follow-up action. Other agenda discussed in the meeting included constitution of district level aspirational blocks committee and ban on plying of log/heavy vehicles.

It said that DEO (Evaluation) Peren, Erangnimbe Thou gave a presentation about the status and activities of the Department in the District. Meanwhile, Nagaland State Biodiversity Board chairman made a presentation on the importance, role, structure of the state biodiversity board and also the roles of biodiversity management board at the village level.

Longleng DPDB meeting was also held on April 6 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom at DC’s conference hall.

The DC briefed the house on the latest SOP to contain and control the spread of Covid-19. It said that that the DC suggested and appealed to the members for strict implementation of social distancing, hand washing and compulsory use of mask by the citizens of Longleng. 

Three important Covid-19 SOPs would be enforced for strict compliance within the town by the combined force of district administration and the police by imposing fine to the defaulters.  In this regard the DC has urged the members to sensitise the people in their locality so that citizens can take self-responsibility to control the spread of the virus in the community, it read.  

The house also discussed for participation of Longleng district in Dr. T Ao Trophy. In this regard the president of Longleng District Football Association, Patham highlighted on the ongoing coaching of the players and financial constraints of the association.

CMO Longleng Dr. Obangjungla gave a power point presentation on overview of ear and hearing. She informed that charity screening camp for ear and hearing would be conducted in the district after completion of registration drive throughout April. She appealed to the members to disseminate the information and asserted that it was necessary to present the power point before the screening camp for awareness purpose. 

She highlighted on various causes of hearing loss and deafness, the impact of unaddressed hearing loss, and early identification and management. She further informed that registration could be done at CHC centre Yachem and Tamlu, PHC centres at Yongnyah, Shakshi, Pongo and other health centres in the district. The camp would be conducted only after the registration is done because medical equipment and facilities would be prepared accordingly, she added.

EE PHED, Longleng also spoke on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and said that the mission was launched to providing safe and adequate drinking water through functional household tape connection (FHTC) to every rural household by 2024. The objective of the mission was to focus on service delivery at every household in the country. He also informed on various committee formed at the state, district and block level for strict implementation of the mission.
