Longleng observes 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with padayatra
Officials and participants during the district-level padayatra held at Longleng on Wednesday.


DIMAPUR — The 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was commemorated with a district-level padayatra in Longleng on Wednesday, organised by the Longleng district administration in coordination with Mera Yuva Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.


According to a DIPR report, the padayatra ‘Unity March’ was held under the banner of “Sardar @150 Ek Bharat Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.


Superintendent of Police Longleng, Yanger Jamir, flagged off the padayatra from the DC office complex, which concluded at the public ground, Longleng. Students from various schools in Longleng district and Yingli College participated in the march with the aim to inspire unity among students and the community through meaningful participation.


Special guest and Senior Principal of Bautung Higher Secondary School, Longleng, M Arulmaran, said that celebrating and honouring the sacrifices and pivotal role played by Sardar Patel for India’s freedom is a reminder of his life’s lessons of unity, determination, discipline, and integrity. He urged everyone to remember and carry forward Patel’s legacy for future generations.

Nagaland: Training on Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0 conducted for three districts


A short programme was held at the DC office complex, chaired by the district sports officer, Longleng, Anguto Thokhwe. The event featured cultural songs and dances performed by students of Bautung Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng, and DYO of Mera Yuva Bharat Longleng, Hitesh Kumar, who highlighted the objectives of the campaign.


Meanwhile, DC Phek Rhosietho Nguori informed government employees and the public of Phek that mass social work will be conducted on November 15 in collaboration with the Phek Town Council in view of the nationwide unity march and campaign marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.


According to a DIPR update, citizens of Phek town and business establishments have been requested to clean their respective wards, shops, and surroundings. The DC has also directed all heads of offices and team leaders of departmental groups to ensure strict attendance of government employees during the social work and submit it to the nodal officer and EAC Phek, Imnasenla Walling.
