DIMAPUR — The review meeting of divisional management unit (DMU) Longleng was held at the divisional Forest office complex on June 12

Reports on forestry intervention activities in Sitap Range and Longleng Range were delivered by deputy ranger-cum-FMU head, Sitap Range, Bedangmongba Ao and range officer-cum-FMU head, Longleng, Chepe-ü Koza, respectively, a DIPR report stated.

Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) presidents of various villages also shared on the progress of forestry intervention activities, success stories, their problems and issues.

During the meeting, self help group representatives of each JICA village reported on the progress of their income generation activities (IGA) and Sentiyatet, team leader of FNGO highlighted about the work progress, SHG status and training updates.

Other reports on SHG activities and profiling, JFMC account, GIS and MIS, success stories and documentation were presented by livelihood expert, account assistant, data entry operator and documentation expert of DMU Longleng.

Report on convergence activities for the year 2023-2024 was also presented by convergence expert of DMU Longleng.

In his concluding remarks, DFO-cum-DMU head of Longleng, H Tokugha Chophy appreciated all the participants and shared about the benefits of planting trees. He said that “nature’s reward is much higher than we expect.”

Assuring that the department would always be there for the welfare of the people, the DFO also reminded that the people should unite and work sincerely, rather than just depending on government funds.

Chophy encouraged the SHGs to work with dedication during the project period, since the NFMP, JICA project is a means to teach and uplift their economic wellbeing. The review meeting was chaired by ACF-cum-ADMU head Longleng, Ailong Phom.
