Longleng extols CMO for her humanitarian service

Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): Chairman of Longleng district planning and development board (DPDB) and MLA, BS Nganlang Phom, has lauded the chief medical officer (CMO) of Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla, on being conferred the Phom Day Award 2022 by the Nagaland Governor, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, in recognition of her humanitarian service towards the people of the district.

Speaking at the monthly DPDB meeting held on June 6 at DPDB hall in Longleng town, Nganlang exhorted the members to continue with the same spirit and wisdom to cater best service to the people. Nganlang also urged the members to extend full cooperation and support in the ensuing state badminton championship scheduled in Longleng from August 22 to the 27th. 

Also speaking at the meeting, the deputy commissioner of Longleng, M Shayung Phom, expressed gratitude to the members for their cooperation and support rendered to him during his tenure as DC. Recalling his experiences during the Covid pandemic, he thanked the frontline workers and officers for their yeoman service, who went to the extent of sacrificing their lives for others.

Addressing his last DPDB meeting in Longleng, the DC called upon the two elected members to discuss with DPDB members while selecting iconic projects under the LADP in the future. The DC further thanked the DIO, NIC Mokokchung, Temsu Wathi Ao, for resolving the poor internet connection in the district.

The board has approved the LADP 2022-23 for 49 Tamlu AC and 50 Longleng AC and recommended grant of financial assistance to Lamling Vesta Elementary School, Longleng. The board also constituted an organising committee headed by DC and DSC chairman and members from government offices and civil societies for hosting the state badminton championship in Longleng.

DBA president, Toshi Angh and his colleagues highlighted the ongoing preparation, infrastructure development and required funds for the mega sport event. They also sought maximum cooperation and support from the members for successful conduct of the tournament.
