The Longleng DPDB reviewed Census preparedness and approved key proposals, including LADP 2026-27 schemes.

DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Longleng, was held at the DPDB Hall on Tuesday, in the presence of MLA and chairman of DPDB Longleng, B Bangtick Phom, and Advisor for Airways and Railways, A Pongshi Phom.
According to a DIPR report, vice chairman of DPDB and deputy commissioner, Longleng, W Manpai Phom, chaired the meeting, reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting, and welcomed board members, including new members.
The deputy commissioner congratulated Bangtick Phom on assuming charge as chairman of the DPDB and Pongshi Phom on his appointment as Advisor to the Chief Minister.
Addressing the gathering, Pongshi highlighted the significance of the ongoing Census exercise, stating that every individual should be enumerated at their place of residence in accordance with the Census guidelines.
He said accurate population data is vital for effective planning, equitable distribution of government resources, and future development initiatives.
He urged all officers entrusted with Census duties to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity, impartiality, and professionalism, stressing that a fair and error-free Census would ensure that the district receives its rightful share of government resources and developmental benefits.

Pongshi also called upon all departments to extend full cooperation to Census officials for the smooth and successful conduct of the exercise.
Bangtick emphasised the importance of accountability and directed all heads of departments (HoDs) to remain stationed at their respective headquarters.
He stressed that the presence of departmental heads at their stations is essential for ensuring efficient public service delivery, effective coordination, and the timely implementation of government programmes and developmental activities.
During the meeting, the house approved the shifting of GPS Namsang C to the EAC office building.
The house also approved the scheme under LADP 2026-27, registration of the Phom Sports Association under the Societies Registration Act, construction of an astro turf at Longleng, and creation of a sub-divisional horticulture office at Tamlu.
T Shahnyu Phom, senior supervisor, Department of Social Welfare, presented a PowerPoint presentation on the department's programmes and activities.
The board also reviewed various developmental issues and deliberated on matters relating to the overall progress of the district.
