Dimapur, Jan. 16 (EMN): To ensure cent percent Covid-19 vaccination among the public in the district, the Longleng district planning and development board (DPDB) has resolved to bar entry of citizens to the banks and educational institutions or travel in any travel agencies without Covid-19 vaccination.

The resolution to this effect was taken during a meeting held on January 15 under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner of Longleng, M Shayung Phom, in his office’s conference hall. A DIPR report informed that the resolution would come into effect after an order issued by the district task force (DTF).

The house also resolved to conduct vaccination drives in all the educational institutions to cover all teachers and staff and students above 15 years of age. The board appealed to the citizens to vaccinate themselves to avoid inconveniences in availing the facilities to enter the bank, educational institutions or to travel in any travel agencies.

The board also discussed traffic control management, sound pollution created by two wheelers and influx of illegal drugs in the district. In this regard, the ADC and SDPO of Longleng and president of Phom People’s Council (PPC) Shami Angh pointed out suggestions for safety, improvement of traffic control management system and to control the influx of illegal drugs in the district.

After discussing the issues, the board decided to strictly enforce those suggestions in the district after directions issued by the district administration.

Also speaking in the meeting, the deputy commissioner appealed to the government officers to be regular and available in their respective place of posting and attend all important meetings and programmes personally without deputing their subordinates. He warned that irregular officers would be viewed seriously, adding that the matter be reported to the higher authority.

Supplementing the DC’s appeal, PPC president reiterated the HoD and staff to be present in their posting place. He also sought coordination of both the government officers and NGO for an overall uplift and peaceful atmosphere in the district. He further urged the officers to report their grievances, if any, to the PPC to redress their problems.

Water Resource department presented their activities through powerpoint presentation during the meeting. The Soil and Water Conservation department has been asked to present their activities report in the next DPDP meeting.
