Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Longleng on Friday stressed on the need to stop infiltration and spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the district and the installation of hand-washing basin and sanitiser at the entrance of the DC’s office gate, during the district task force (DTF) meeting on the virus on March 20 in the DC’s conference hall.

According to an update by the DIPR, the DC urged the SBI to keep hand sanitiser in all ATM booths in the district with immediate effect to ensure that covid-19 is not spread through the ATM.

The CMO of the district apprised the house on the action plan and “immediate strengthening of mechanism” to control the spread of Covid-19 in the district. The action plan included: ‘the department to come up with a micro plan of training programme for government departments, NGOs, Churches and village authorities’; all units in the district to maintain a separate register for coronavirus-related cases and in the event of any detection, the Rapid Response Team of Mokokchung district will assist the Longleng district; and immediate functional of isolation ward for patients of coronavirus and the need to identify quarantine for the district.

ADC and administrator LTC D Robin apprised the house of various directives that had been issued to the business community and the citizens of Longleng.

It was decided during the meeting that the district administration would make hand sanitiser available in the district as soon as possible and the department of PHED and Housing has been entrusted to mobilise resources for immediate construction of washroom for isolation ward by March 23.

‘All shops and business establishments to compulsorily keep hand sanitiser for their personal use and medical department will notify the public on district helpline numbers. The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has been assigned for distribution of pamphlets of basic sanitisation habits and practices and information on the Covid-19 translated in local dialects to every household,’ the press release read.

“Two check posts at Chingtok junction and Naga junction for screening and monitoring people entering the district to be activated by the senior superintendent of police in coordination with the district administration,” it added.
