Longleng declares no objection for burial of Covid-19 dead body

Dimapur, May 5 (EMN): Longleng district administration and civil societies in a meeting on Tuesday jointly declared no objection for burial of Covid-19 dead body in its jurisdiction.

The declaration was read by Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom and signed by the PPC, PSC, Phomla Hoichem, and Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) officials, informed an update from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Obangjungla.

The meeting was attended by NGOs and civil societies, and district task force members and presided over by EAC Pichano.

Executive secretary of the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA), Tialemba Phom while delivering the concept note on joint declaration, stated that ‘God has made each one of us in His own image and likeness and therefore no one has the right to discriminate anyone. With that thought the PBCA has mobilised and initiated all the villages, church leaders and village councils not to object burial of Covid-19 patient.’

The DC expressed gratitude and appreciation to the PBCA, pastors of all the villages for taking the initiative.

He also said that Tangha village is the first village in the district to declare no objection for burial. The consent of all 52 villages and towns in the sistrict was obtained under the initiative of the district administration and with the support of the PBCA.

Meanwhile, the district task force meeting on Covid-19 was held at the DC’s conference hall.

The meeting discussed on precautionary measures and transportation of stranded migrants and onward transportation to their home states and also bringing those who are stranded in other districts.

It was decided that all those stranded people who want to come back to Longleng will be screened at all check points and certified.

The check points will be at Dikhu bridge, Shetap, Yonglok, Mongtikang and Chingtok. In all the check points medical personnel with scanners will be stationed. Two scanners will be arranged at Dikhu point as more number of people will be travelling that route.

Those coming back from other districts are to produce certificates certifying that they are screened should be produced at the village gate before entering the village and maintain strict home quarantine.
