Longleng DC lauds government employees for peaceful Lok Sabha polls

Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner of Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam congratulated government employees for smooth and peaceful conduct of the recent Parliamentary election in Longleng district during the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting held in the DC’s conference hall on April 25.

Sangtam asserted that the recent Lok Sabha poll was peaceful in the district because of the consolidate effort of the people of the district- support rendered by the government officials, churches, civil societies and the general populace, informed an update from DIPR. He also expressed optimism that similar cooperation would be given in other activities of the districts too in the days to come.

Citing that pre-monsoon preparedness and state wide mass social work will be held on May 4, the DC said further instruction will be notified and a meeting will be called two days ahead of the day in connection with the mass social work for necessary arrangement. He said it is mandatory for all the government employees to take part in the mass social work and that action would be taken against the absentees. He also urged them to work for the welfare of the people.

While reviewing the last meeting minutes, the DC urged the HoDs to voluntary contribute towards the construction of bore well at Buranamsang. He informed that “it was compelled to resolve in the previous DPDB minutes for voluntary contribution to meet the immediate needs of the people” as “such projects are not available in any of the government agencies.”

Besides announcing the departments that have already contributed towards the project, EAC Tamlu Nukshimatong also apprised the members to give their contribution as soon as possible so that the project could be started at the earliest.

Following a briefing by the representatives of the Veterinary department, Longleng, the members present at the meeting approved registration of Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal, Longleng.

While presenting the developmental activities of the PWD (R&B), SDO (PWD), Er. Chingi Phom mentioned the need of SDO (Mechanic) PWD branch in the district headquarters; to stop rampant logging and coal mining near the roads; establishment of PWD (R&B) Division at Tamlu; and inclusion of some roads under Longleng PWD Division that fall under the PWD (R&B) Division of other districts.

The house decided to demand creation of PWD (R&B) Division at Tamlu, SDO (Mechanic) PWD at Longleng and inclusion of excluded roads under the PWD (R&B) Division, Longleng (except National Highway) which is presently under the jurisdiction of PWD (R&B) Division of other district for smooth supervision. The members also deliberated on the need for quality roads in the district.

The next DPDB meeting will be held on May 7.
