Longkumer visited the village to get first-hand information about the incident that sparked tension in the border area. The chairman of Lirmen village give a detailed account of the incidents that took place on Jan. 6 and 9th; and how the Assam police later started construction of a house in the border. Longkumer remarked that such incidents have been happening for the last few decades; and that most of the villages in the border belt fall under 30th Alongtaki assembly constituency, which he represents. In this connection, he asserted, “it is very important to maintain a balance with the neighbouring state.” The minister assured to consult his colleagues and soon build outposts in the border villages of Tsurmen, Akumen, Saring and Yajang (C). To avoid disturbance or confrontation between the two parties, Longkumer, advised the people not to take matters into their own hands but inform the district administration for ‘necessary steps to resolve the matter.’
