DIMAPUR — The public of Longchem town, Mokokchung district, held at general meeting on February 3 and deliberated on various issues including delay in construction of road and footsteps in the town.
The vice chairman of Longchem Adhoc Town Committee, in a press release, stated that an amount of INR 7.75 lakh was allocated for construction of footsteps at Longchem town under LADP. And while the final withdrawal was done on April 6, 2021, the construction work is yet to see the light of day, it claimed.
The vice chairman also disclosed that a work order dated December 22, 2022, amounting to INR 48,59,326 was issued by the Directorate of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, to M/s Zenith Enterprise for construction of “internal road” in the town. “But till now the work has not started,” he stated.
In the meeting, the Longchem public expressed displeasure with the state government and the staffs under Mangkolemba sub-division, Mokokchung, posted at Longchem for turning a deaf ear to the repeated reminders of the NGOs and the Longchem Adhoc Town Committee.
“Therefore, the general public requests the contractor/firm to kindly start the construction works failing which, the public would be compelled to take concrete measures for its fulfillment,” the release stated.
