DIMAPUR — Putting speculations to rest, former National People’s Party (NPP) Lok Sabha MP candidate (2019), Hayithung Bill Lotha, on Saturday declared his candidature for the upcoming general elections.

He stated that he had decided to contest the lone Parliamentary seat of Nagaland in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls 2024 “for the greater interest of the Nagas and safeguarding the constitutional democratic ethos of our great country Bharat”.

However, he didn’t mention under which party he would contest the election.

He claimed that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Trinamool Congress top brass have sent feelers to “fight in their banner” but he is “not interested at all” as of now.

“I am exploring the options to fight the ensuing polls in the right political platform align to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to achieve developed nation status by 2047,” read his email received here on Saturday evening.
