Lok Adalat settled cases worth INR 18.9 lakh in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, Aug. 14 (EMN): Cases amounting to a total of INR 18, 90,109.07 was settled during the third quarterly National Lok Adalat held at the District Court Complex in Mokokchung on August 13.

A press release from WV Patton, CJM and Secretary, Mokokchung district legal services authority, stated that the Lok Adalat began at 10 am and a total of 23 pre-litigation money recovery cases were taken up. 

The participating banks included State Bank of India, Mokokchung branch; State Bank of India, Bazaar branch; Bank of Baroda, Central Bank, and Indian Bank. It was organised by the Mokokchung district legal services authority (MDLSA) under the aegis of Nagaland state legal services authority, in collaboration with various banks.

It stated that Lok Adalat is one of the alternate dispute redressal mechanisms wherein disputes are settled or compromised amicably.

The types of cases, which could be referred to Lok Adalat included civil cases, matrimonial cases, MACT cases, bank default cases and petty criminal cases, it added.
