Brigadier Suresh Sheoran, sena medal commander 7 Sector AR, Tuensang was the guest of honour for the day’s celebration held at Mon Town on Thursday, informed an update from DIPR. He told the gathering that peace is the only thing in the world that leads the people to progress and prosperity, and that the Assam Rifle is doing every possible way to promote peace in the region. Stating that Konyaks have rich culture, tradition and heritage, he said he is lucky to be a part of the Land of the Angh and sought cooperation of the general mass to approach the Assam Rifle whenever help is required. He also informed that the AR is sponsoring and giving career guidance for students wanting to join Sainik School, for skill development and for those wanting to join the Indian Army may approach for assistance. President of Ao Senden Chubawati Longchar urged the gathering to join hands in rebuilding the age-old relationship of Aos and Konyaks and rebuild relations that had gone astray in the course of time. The highlights of the day included display of cultural dance by Phom Union, Mon Town; and log drum beating by Chi Union, Longkei Union, Longwa Union, Tobu Union, Chen Union and Mopong Hongkong.
