Lockdown charity: Organisations reach out to needy, stranded students

Villagers recieve essential items distributed by the Assam Rifles.

Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): Following the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and subsequently lockdown in the state, many organisations and individuals have been reaching out to the poor and needy and stranded people by providing essential commodities. 

The Nagaland Meetei Students' Organisation on Sunday distributed essential commodities to 263 stranded students from Meetei community staying at Phom colony, Purana Bazar, Burma Camp, Manipuri Basti, Signal Angami, Westyard, Kevijau, Metha, PWD, Y Zhimo, Naga Gaon, and Sachu colonies.

The Dimapur Bengali Samaj also distributed essential materials to 40 needy families of Y Zhimo colony, Dimapur.

The Care & Support Society (CSS) and Mokokchung District Disable Forum (MDDF) distributed relief items to different abled people.

The relief sponsored by Imlibenla Wati, a philanthropist and social activist were distributed in phase-wise, informed MDDF President Imkongnungchet Kichu and advisor, who is also a managing director of CSS, Imchawati

Assam Rifles of Tuensang and Zunheboto battalion on April 22 provided rations to residents of Tuensang and Atoizu villages.
