Kohima, July 28 (EMN): The Lhisemia Council and Kruoliezou colony in Kohima carried out a daylong social work from Billy Graham Road to Secretariat Y-Junction, a stretch of almost three kilometres on Saturday.
The PWD (mechanical) Kohima division and Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) joined in and provided the machinery. The citizens, assisted by the personnel from the PWD and the KMC, carried out sub-base course, filling potholes and repaired the drainage system throughout the stretch.
Speaking to media persons, the Lhisemia Chairman Setuo Kelio and the Chairman of Kruoliezou Council, Keduozelhou Khrumo said that the black-topping of the said road ‘constructed in 2017’ could not withstand a single monsoon season.
They added that the road had deteriorated very severely affecting the office-goers, the students and the local residents.
In this connection, the council authorities urged the department and contractors to maintain quality workmanship while executing projects. Warning of initiating action as deemed fit against defaulters and they said that the councils will not bear responsibility in any unforeseen eventuality thereafter.
