Local college gets Retail POS Software for B.Voc students

Dimapur, Feb. 20: A local college in Kohima town has installed a Retail POS Software for students as part of the institution’s skill education segment under the Bachelor of Vocation in Retail Management & IT program.
A press release from Modern College on Monday asserted that the college was one of the first colleges in Nagaland to introduce B.Voc, stated to be ‘skill based program’ that aims to incorporate industry requirement into the academic curriculum.
The POS software “Stan Pro” is used in retail stores for maintaining records of suppliers, customers, customer billing, stock management, and employee tracking, among others.
“With the IT knowledge in Retail, the students will be ready for the Retail IT industry as well. This course helps students to develop skills, prepare them for the industry and enhance employability of graduates,” the college’s press release stated. .“The students are expected to perform various job roles such as sales associate, team leader, department manager, and store manager within 3 years of Bachelor of Vocational course. This program is 40% theoretical and 60% practical based, which is the positive side when compared to other programs. The uniqueness of this program is that it is flexible and there are exit levels after every one year or academic session,” the college added.
