LN United FC Pughoboto, Modern College Kohima, HQ IGAR (N) and Meriema Village Students Union entered the second round knocking their respective rivals on the eighth day of the 15th edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy at Kohima Local ground. Playing the first match, LN United FC Pughoboto defeated United Tribes Club Kohima by 3-1.
Kimyeto scored first for LN United in the 11th minute, while Tokishe converted a penalty spot kick in the 15th minute. Aloto managed to bring the margin for United Tribes a minute before half-time. However, Kimyeto again increased the margin to 3-1 for LN United with his second goal in 50th minute.
Modern College Kohima triumphed over the first half solitary goal against Maple FC Dihoma in the second match of the day. Kedoneizo scored the only goal in 26th minute.
The third-match was lopsided with HQ IGAR (North) humiliating Venns United Forest Colony by eight goals to nil.
Abel Sumi opened the flood gates in 14th minute Demo doubled it within a minute. E. Zofa scored the third and fourth goals in 19th and 30th minutes of the game while Abel scored his second and fifth for the team in the additional time of first half.
A minute into the breather half, Abel became the fourth hat-trick scorer of the tournament as he netted the sixth goal of the match while Demo also added his second and seventh for the team in 55th minute. S. Valte sealed the score board with the eighth goal in 67th minute.
The last match was also a one-sided affair as Meriema Village Students' Union thrashed FC Lenlem Dimapur by 9-1 with two of its players scoring four goals each.
Taking control of the ball, Petevizo Kezie-o scored in the third minute with a header followed by the second in 9th minute, while he neatly converted a penalty kick in the 13th minute to become the fifth hat-trick of the tournament. He also scored the fifth goal in the 43rd minute.
Neiphrezo Üsou scored with the fourth, sixth, seventh and ninth goals in 19th, 50th, 55th and 69th minutes of play to be the sixth hat-trick scorer of the tournament. Kevirütuo Üsou scored the 8th goal in 60th minute.
The only face saver for FC Lenlem Dimapur was scored by John in 68th minute. This was also the highest scoring game of the tournament so far.
