Wokha, Jan. 13 (EMN): The 14th general conference of the Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) got underway on Thursday in Lotsu village with the advisor of Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Yanthan called upon the students to foster peace and unity for all round development. The advisor also called upon the students to make judicious use of time in their studies in order to achieve success. He also lauded the remarkable achievements at various levels made by the middle range in the past years. He also reminded the students to do away with all prevailing social evils existing in the society.
Terming Nagaland ‘land of opportunity,’ he further called upon the students to ascertain their rights and transform the society.
Speaking on the theme ‘Towards a brighter future,’ Dr. Mhonthung Yanthan, head of Political Science department at St. Joseph’s College (autonomous) Jakhama, shared certain factors to bring about transformation in the society. He has called upon the congregation to move forward by refining oneself, have a razor sharp determination, discipline in life and invest in hard work with a critical mindset.
In a short speech, Mhondamo Lotha, chairman of Lotha Hoho, told the congregation to be practical by cultivating work culture and prioritising one’s language to preserve one’s identity.
Meanwhile, the LMRPO president called upon the students to seek God and respect elders in order to excel in life.
Ashanthung Humtsoe, president of Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) called upon the unit presidents to have a sense of responsibility and do research to bring about changes for an all-round transformation.
The evening session was graced by Mhathung Murry, special commissioner of state taxes, as the special guest.
