LLRPO appeals to citizens to protect ancestral land and calls for strict Inner Line Permit enforcement in Wokha district
DIMAPUR — The Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation (LLRPO) has issued a public appeal calling on village authorities, landowners, and citizens of the lower range to unite in protecting ancestral land and preventing unlawful settlements amidst ongoing eviction drives along the Assam-Nagaland border.
In a circular, the organisation urged residents not to harbour or provide shelter to illegal migrants seeking to evade lawful eviction, warning that any suspected violations should be immediately reported to competent authorities for necessary action.
The LLRPO also called on the police and district administration to strictly enforce the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system through regular verification and authorised surprise checks. It stated that the ILP must serve as an effective mechanism to prevent unlawful settlements while ensuring that genuine tourists, investors, and law-abiding visitors are not harassed.
The organisation stated that it would cooperate with the administration and competent authorities in monitoring and verifying suspected violations. It further warned that any member or affiliated unit found facilitating unlawful occupation or obstructing lawful enforcement could face strict organisational action, including disaffiliation, while criminal offences would be referred to appropriate authorities for legal action.

Stressing collective responsibility, the LLRPO urged village councils, landowners, and citizens to remain vigilant, safeguard land records, prevent unlawful occupation, and cooperate with the administration.
Highlighting the need to protect indigenous rights and resources, the organisation said safeguarding land and economic assets was essential for securing opportunities for the youth and future generations of Nagaland. It called for unity and collective action to preserve ancestral inheritance and promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth.
