LJP(RV) declares its candidate for Zunheboto AC in Nagaland Assembly election
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP-Ram Vilas) on Wednesday officially declared Ghovishe Kiba as its candidate for the upcoming state Assembly election from 35 Zunheboto Assembly Constituency, in Zunheboto.
A former BJP Nagaland executive member, Kiba had reportedly sought to contest the 2023 election on a BJP ticket but changed his mind as the Zunheboto AC was likely to be given to the NDPP, as was in the 2018 election, going by the 40:20 seat-sharing arrangement between the two allies.
With the announcement of his candidature, ‘the party unanimously resolved to provide the logistic support, and assured the state and central party leaders will put all efforts into winning the state assembly election,’ it stated on Wednesday.
The LJP(RV) had earlier said that it would set up candidates in all the 60 constituencies in the state and appealed to the Election Commission of India to allot a ‘helicopter’ as its symbol for candidates in the upcoming state Assembly election.
Formed in 2000 after Ram Vilas Paswan split from Janata Dal United, the LJP(RV) is an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP, which is currently in power at the Centre.
