LJP (RV) extends support to state govt. on Naga political issue

KOHIMA— Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Dr. Sukhato A Sema, on Thursday, stated that Pughoboto sub-division is one region that is deeply rooted in the Naga political issue since inception and still has a very strong base.

He said this at the ongoing Assembly session while participating in the motion of thanks to the governor’s address.

The legislator appreciated the state government for taking initiatives towards bringing a solution to the vexed Naga political issue at the earliest, adding that bringing the issue to its logical conclusion is one of his top priorities.

In this regard, Sema said he had apprised the president of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan, who not only assured to take up the matter with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, but also raise the issue in the Parliament at the appropriate time.

As the leader of the LJP (RV) legislature party in the House, he assured that the Nagaland state unit would extend full support to the chief minister and his council of ministers in resolving the Naga Political issue for a logical conclusion.

Referring to the Governor’s address that stressed on agriculture, Sema said the initiatives of the Agriculture department for developing an innovative model of  cluster agriculture known as Naga-integrated settled farming was an ‘unprecedented achievement,’ while acknowledging the government for successfully exporting a cargo of Naga-King chilli (Naga mircha) in 2022, which has put Nagaland in the world organic map.

He mentioned how sericulture could have a long term benefit for the farmers economically and appreciated the concerned department for initiating the concept of “Model Horticulture Village.”

The legislator also appreciated the success of an organic orange plantation along the Doyang Valley in Pughoboto sub-division particularly in Awohumi and Mukalimi villages. He also applauded the works being carried out by PHED in supplying ‘sufficient water’ to the state capital Kohima.

Sema further lauded the state government for making the medical college in Kohima operational from the academic year 2023-24 to be followed by a similar medical college in Mon.

“As a medical person, I would also like to appeal to this August House of the 14th NLA to extend every possible support to the government headed by the Honourable CM and Health and Family Welfare Minister to bring AIIMS-like institutes in Nagaland besides the already upcoming medical colleges,” Sema said.

While congratulating the department of School Education for implementing NECTAR – the lighthouse (Nagaland Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources), he highlighted some notable achievements of government schools under the Pughoboto sub-division.

He said Mukalimi Government Primary School has one of the best enrollments among the government primary schools in Nagaland, while Ighanumi Government High School is one of the best performing schools in the HSLC exam among the government high schools.

The legislator also mentioned that Government High School in Ighanumi has been recording more than 85% passing percentage in the past five years. He was optimistic that government institutions in Nagaland are moving in a positive direction.

He was also appreciative of the maintenance of law and order and ushering in a peaceful atmosphere in the state, which according to him, was a remarkable achievement.

Sema further expressed hope that all round development progress, peace and prosperity with inclusiveness would take place under a peaceful atmosphere in the next five years.
