Lirie Panchayat to pop late night parties, speedsters

EMN Dimapur, November 26 Late night party animals, rash drivers and litterbugs will be in trouble especially if they happen to run afoul of the Lerie community in Kohima. The community has warned against public nuisances including people who party late night, and road hazards such as reckless drivers who break resolutions the community’s local organization took recently. The Lerie Panchayat’s executives met on November 24 in Kohima and discussed a number of issued they called “pressing issues for the welfare of the colony and the general public of Kohima.” The Panchayat issued a press release on Thursday, November 26. Among its first resolutions, the Panchayat said that it had ‘taken note of unlawful activities and disturbances by outsiders’ in the colony. “Night time Revellers are informed to immediately cease and desist from such activities within the colony. Defaulters will be apprehended, their names and vehicle numbers will be exposed and any other penalties may be imposed by the Panchayat,” the press release stated. The Panchayat also said that the festive season was expected to “generate more activity in the helipad.” The organization has appealed to all vehicle drivers to “observe speed limits, considering the condition of the road and the public on the roads.” The Lerie Panchayat also expressed gratitude to the residents for their participation in “the social work,” especially the youth and women organizations of the colony. “The Panchayat organized the social work to have a cleaner neighborhood and welcome the festive season in the right spirit. The Panchayat sincerely appeal against littering the colony, parties engage in cable laying activities are requested to respect the concern and efforts of the colony.”
