Dimapur, April 19 (EMN): In an attempt to curb anti-social activities in the district, Dimapur police have arrested nine persons during the past 48 hours for indulging in various crimes.
A press release issued by the district police’s public relations office stated that two persons identified as one Gaurav Kumar (23) and a Sunil Das (24) were arrested during a raid on April 16 from the DC court junction in Dimapur. Police recovered 40 cases of assorted liquor from a Xerox shop reportedly run by them.
In another incident, Dimapur police conducted a raid in a shop located in Nagarjan junction on April 17 and arrested one person identified to be one Rahul Das (20) with six cases of liquor from his possession.
On April 18, Dimapur police lead by Amit conducted a surprise raid in a shop located at Purana Bazaar near Hollohon petrol pump and confiscated 20 cases of various brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquorp. In this connection, one person identified as a Rajendra Singh (37) from Sikar of Rajesthan and a resident of Purana Bazaar, Dimapur, was arrested, the updates infromed.
On the same day, Government Railway Police personnel arrested two persons Nengboi Haokip, of Lambulane in Manipur’s Imphal West; and Seijahao Haokip, of Gamnom Veng Binda in Moreh of Manipur, for having on them 270 bottles of Phensedyl.
In yet another incident on April 19, Dimapur police arrested two persons from Dellai Gate, identified as a Renben Lotha of Longki village in Karbi Anglong, and Lanuyanger Ao of Aokong colony, near Dellai gate. They were stated to have been extorting from truck drivers in the name of the NSCN (IM) and NSCN (U). Police confiscated cash of INR 9390 along with “tax” coupons from their possession, the updates informed.
