DIMAPUR — Likyaro Patton, a student of Class 8 at Hope Academy, Dimapur, emerged as the winner of the second Spell Bee Competition, organised by the Dorians Society, which was held at Kingdom Culture Church, Dimapur, on October 28.

Patton received a cash prize of INR 10,000 along with a citation, while Shahnaz Ali, a Class 9 student from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, secured the second position and was awarded a cash prize of INR 5,000 along with a citation.

Kowsara Begum, a Class 8 student at Liz Woodland School, finished third and received a cash prize of INR 3,000 along with a citation.

The competition featured 27 schools from Dimapur, Niuland, and Chümoukedima districts, with 52 students participating.

The schools were represented by students from classes 7, 8, and 9, and the competition was overseen by a panel of three judges and two pronouncers/moderators chosen by the organising committee.

During the competition, each competitor was given two minutes to correctly spell a word from the dictionary, during which they could ask for the definition, etymology, parts of speech, and usage example of the word.

The primary goal of the Dorians Society in organising the competition was to promote healthy competition among students and provide them with a platform to compete on larger stages.
