Normal life in Manipur was on Tuesday affected by a 38-hour general strike called to protest against the death of Sapam Robinhood during the agitation by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System demanding introduction of an Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.The police said that the general strike was marked by protest-rallies and sit-in protests as the agitators blocked roads in some areas of Manipur’s Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts.
The capital of Manipur and the twin Imphal districts wore a deserted look as the inter-state, inter-districts bus, mini bus, autorickshaw services were off the roads.
Business establishments, markets and shops were also closed on Tuesday, police sources said.
There was no report of any untoward incident.
