Wokha, Sep. 9 (EMN): Lotha Hoho and the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) organised a felicitation programme for Richard Yanthan, who cleared the prestigious civil services examination conducted by the UPSC and secured all India ranking of 133, at Don Bosco Youth Centre Wokha on September 8.
Yanthan attributed his success to God and constant prayers and support from the family members and friends at the felicitation programme. He urged the young aspirants to remember God and continue to work hard and seek Lord’s blessing in all that they do. He also called upon the youngsters to be dedicated and sincere so that in the coming days many more will make it to the civil services and set an example for others to follow.
Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton, who is also the minister in-charge for Home and R&B, congratulated Yanthan for bringing laurels to the community, which he termed a ‘proud moment’ for the Nagas in general and Lotha community in particular.
He expressed joy that the Lotha community has got its fourth IAS officer, though after a gap of 34 long years. Meanwhile, he told the gathering to make use of mobile phones in the right perspective as it can help the students and civil services aspirants, while it can also be a waste of time for those attached to gaming and waste their valuable time.
While congratulating Yanthan, Patton said that, “being one the of the youngest IAS officers in the state, we have a strong conviction in you that you will bring a paradigm shift to the society as you serve the nation as well as the Nagas in particular.”
He also announced during the programme that under LADP (Common Pool) logistic support would be given to the aspirant students undergoing coaching at IAS, ALS coaching centre, Wokha. While assuring that he would continue to support in the best possible way, he challenged the students and aspirants to bring more laurels to the Lotha community.
‘It is a momentous day for all of us and a long-awaited dream coming true after so many years that the last time the Lotha community was blessed with an ISA officer was 34 years ago,’ said Mhathung Yanthan, advisor of the Horticulture department. He wished Richard Yanthan success as he begins a journey of many challenges and big tasks; a successful inning in his career.
MLA Dr. Chumben Murry congratulated Richard Yanthan and urged him to be the ambassador of the Nagas as he embarks on a higher responsibility. He also appealed to the youngsters to imbibe the good example set by Yanthan so that they too become successful people in life.
Chairman of Lotha Hoho, Mhondamo Ovung, wished him good health and wisdom as he takes up higher responsibilities to serve the people with humanity and humbleness. The family of Richard Yanthan and Lakhuti village council chairman thanked the Lotha Hoho and LSU for organising the felicitation programme.
