LFI organises programme on importance of savings, investments

Dimapur, April 11 (EMN): Department of Commerce, Livingstone Foundation International College organised a programme on the importance of savings and investments at the college auditorium on Monday.

Officials from the department of Post, Nagaland and India Post Payments Bank, Dimapur were the resource persons for the programme. 

 A press release from the college stated that the resource personnel stressed on the importance of savings and how many of are unaware of its role.

Sharon Losu, Assistant Manager, India Post Payments Bank, mentioned about how people ‘don’t look beyond today and look for easy money’. It said that she also highlighted on the reality of how youngsters spend more than what they can afford ‘just to please their peers which leads them to indulge in illegal or wrongful activities instead of planning to save and invest’.

“It is therefore time to change this mindset and the need of the hour is to start educating and creating awareness about saving and investment amongst the people. Saving is not an easy thing, it requires great discipline and we need to prioritise our needs over our wants,” it read..

L Imtikumzuk, Marketing Executive, Department of Post, Nagaland, shared about the various saving and deposit avenues along with the interest rates available for the public to invest. He also encouraged the participants to start saving and investing at an early age and shared its advantages by illustrating practical examples. The resource persons were also accompanied  by Merensoba, branch postmaster Vihokhu Village branch office and  Ajay Das, Postman Dimapur MDG. The programme was attended by the students, staff and faculty of LFI.
