DIMAPUR — The department of History, Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) College organised a one-day educational trip to Kohima for students to learn about Nagaland’s history and culture.

A group of around 30 students from the first, third, and fifth semesters, accompanied by two faculty members, visited the Kohima War Cemetery, Nagaland State Museum, and Phizo Hill on November 14, according to a press release.

At the Kohima War Cemetery, students learned about the sacrifices made by soldiers during World War II while defending their nation. They also understood the importance of preserving historic sites to memorialise the fallen.

The group then went to the Nagaland State Museum, where they saw exhibits on Naga culture and history.

The students learned firsthand about prehistoric Naga potteries, metallurgies, burials, art, and so on. They also learned about the prospect of archaeology in Nagaland and its importance in unravelling their ancestor’s histories.

The trip concluded at Phizo Hill, where the students learned about AZ Phizo’s role in the Naga national movement.

According to the release, the aim of the educational tour was to inspire an interest in Naga history and culture among the students.
