Dimapur, September 11
After finishing as Champions in the Dimapur District Level Under-14 Soccer Tournament, Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School added yet another feather to its hat of glorious achievements by defeating G. Rio School by a margin of 3 goals and thus becoming the State Champion.
In an exhilarating match, which was played at the DDSC Stadium Dimapur on September 10, the Under-14 team from Livingstone School made its mark to a jubilant victory by making the G. Rio School limit themselves to a nil score against 3 goals netted by Livingstone Boys. Prior to the final match the first game started off well against Greenwood School boys in spite of some players being Subroto Cup Champion players. Here too the LFHSS boys kicked off well and won by 1 goal against a nil score from the opponent team. The match was particularly important as it meant that the team from Livingstone School would now be representing the state of Nagaland at the North East Regional Level Football Championship which will again decide whether they are competent enough to win it and make it to the Nationals.
The District and State Level Selection for the Under-14 best soccer players is a part of an initiative undertaken by the All India Football Federation in collaboration with the Coca Cola Company. Under the aegis of the AIFF, similar championships would be organized at every District and State Level to select the best Under-14 team of footballers which would ultimately represent India at the International level.
The schedule for the Regional Championship for the North East Region would be announced at a later date by the Nagaland Football Association, Kohima.
