Our Correspondent
Kohima, May 29 (EMN): A total 55 students of class 12 from Little Flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS) along with seven teachers under the guidance of its principal, Sr. Lucy Gangmei, undertook a cleanliness drive at Sokhriezie Park, BOC in Kohima on May 28 under the ‘Laudato Si’ project.
The cleanliness drive was also accompanied by representatives from Tsiituonuomia (T) Khel village council, T Khel youth organisation and T Khel students’ union.
The students contributed potted plants and saplings to the park. It was informed that the main purpose of the drive was to practice some goals of the ‘Laudato Si: response to the cry of the earth, ecological education, emphasis on community involvement and participatory action etc.’
The ‘Laudato Si’ is a letter from Pope Francis to everyone on the planet urging all to protect the earth – our common home.
The T Khel council has lauded the students for their initiative and hard work and further looked forward to more active participation in the days to come.
Meanwhile, the teacher in-charge, Naro Imchen, has expressed gratitude to the advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire and the T Khel council chairman, K Neibou, for permitting the students and making the drive a successful one.
Light refreshment was provided to all the participants by the T Khel council.
