Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): An Ao Naga dictionary ‘Arok Osep’ (Ao for lexicon or dictionary), published by the Ao Senden Literature Board, has been released. The chief secretary to the government, Temjen Toy, released the book at the DBIDL hall in Dimapur on March 9.
Updates on Monday from the DIPR stated Toy spoke about the identity of a tribe and its culture as something that is in its language. Lauding the board for publishing the dictionary, he said to have talked about the need to revise it regularly to keep it updated with ‘new words.’
“He also suggested to design a smart phone app for easy accessibility and to generate more interest among the minds of young people,” the updates said.
According to chief editor of the dictionary, Rev. C Walu Walling, it was published ‘focusing on development, preservation and propagation.’ The dictionary has more than 7000 words with English translation.
