NSSATA asks government to release salary
Dimapur, March 2 : Teachers of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Nagaland have in the outright called “gibberish, hogwash” the claims of the government of Nagaland that the central government sent ‘very less amount...with the ministry facing shortage of funds.’
The teachers raised their oft-repeated demand to the Nagaland government to release their salary, from November 2016 till date and Dearness Allowance from January 2016-December 2016.
The Nagaland Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) issued a press release on Thursday stating their demand.
“The NSSATA (Kohima unit) reiterated once again, despite the written assurance given by the state government that there will be regular payment of salaries, in November 2016 the government has once again failed to keep their words,” the press release from the group stated. “This in turn has led to the teachers’ facing undue hardships, mentally, physically, financially and these effects quality teaching as one cannot expect a mentally stressed and physically starved teacher to give quality education to its pupils.”
The organisation stated that its executives were informed that only two months’ salary along with arrears would be released “as the government received very less amount from the central government with the ministry facing shortage of funds.”
“But the ministry facing such shortage and not being able to pay the salaries of its employees is total gibberish, hogwash and a total nonsense. The teachers are an educated lot and can see that the state government and department are yet again trying to fool us,” the press release spat.
The organisation stated that it was a fact that the central government was ever ready to release the amount if Utilization Certificate of the previous allocation was forwarded to the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
“But, why does the government, despite repeated appeals, memorandum, press release, never bother to submit UC in time to the MHRD, Government of India. The teachers, NSSATA (Kohima unit) wants to know the reason as to why there is delay in the submission of UC,” the organisation stated.
The NSSATA has asked the state government to release all pending salaries from November 2016 till date and the DA from January 2016 to December 2016 without delay.
“It also reminded the government to immediately start paying regular monthly salary henceforth as the nature of appointment of the SSA teachers is regular and is on par with the other state government employees,” the press release added.
